"Jakość Tradycja" ("Quality Tradition")
What Is the " Jakość Tradycja " Certification Scheme?
The " Jakość Tradycja " Certification Scheme is Poland’s national food quality scheme, developed by the Polish Chamber of Regional and Local Products and officially recognized by the Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. It distinguishes food products of outstanding quality with a verified traditional character.
To qualify, products must meet strict requirements, including:
- traditional recipes and production methods,
- full traceability of raw materials,
- GMO-free ingredients,
- and a documented history of at least 50 years.
The scheme is built on four core principles:
- Exceptional product quality
- Regular compliance verification
- Open access for all eligible producers
- Transparency and full traceability throughout the production process
Every product undergoes a comprehensive assessment in accordance with the Regulations for the Use of the "Jakość Tradycja" Mark, which has been registered with the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland as a collective guarantee trademark.
Participation in the scheme is voluntary and open to all food producers. Achieving certification enhances product credibility, strengthens brand recognition, and demonstrates a genuine commitment to quality, authenticity, and tradition.
Further information about the scheme is available on the website of the Agricultural and Food Quality Inspection.
The "Jakość Tradycja" Certification Scheme is open to all food producers and processors—both domestic and international—regardless of whether they are members of the Polish Chamber of Regional and Local Products. Participation is entirely voluntary.
The scheme is designed for producers of agricultural products, processed foods, and beverages who wish to demonstrate the traditional character and exceptional quality of their products through independent certification.
"Jakość Tradycja" – A Mark of Tradition and Exceptional Quality
The "Jakość Tradycja" Certification Scheme recognizes food products of outstanding quality with a verified traditional character. Developed by the Polish Chamber of Regional and Local Products (PIPRiL) - the owner and administrator of the quality mark—the scheme is officially recognized by the Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The mark is registered with the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland (Registration No. Z-307821) as a collective guarantee trademark.
The Four Pillars of the "Quality Tradition" Scheme
1. Outstanding Product Quality
Product quality is the cornerstone of the scheme. Only food products of exceptional quality, achieved through traditional production methods, are eligible for certification.
Before being accepted into the scheme, each product undergoes a comprehensive assessment in accordance with the Regulations Governing the Use of the "Quality Tradition" Mark, approved by the Chamber's Council and Management Board, as well as the Association of Polish Regions. Producers commit to maintaining enhanced production standards or other distinctive product characteristics.
2. Independent Quality Verification
Producers using the "Jakość Tradycja" mark must hold a valid certificate of conformity confirming that their production process complies with the approved product specification. Regular audits and inspections ensure continued compliance and maintain the integrity of the scheme.
3. Open and Voluntary Participation
The scheme is open to:
• Farmers
• Agricultural producers
• Food processors and manufacturers, both in Poland and internationally
Membership in the Polish Chamber of Regional and Local Products is not required. Participation is entirely voluntary, and eligibility is based solely on the quality and traditional character of the product. Certification may only be refused for reasons specified in the scheme regulations.
4. Transparency and Full Traceability
The scheme establishes clear rules for the use of the "Jakość Tradycja" mark. Certified producers are required to define the scope and frequency of quality controls and maintain documentation ensuring complete product traceability throughout the production chain.

Obtaining " Jakość Tradycja " certification is a straightforward process.
Step 1 – Submit Your Application
The producer submits an application to the Polish Chamber of Regional and Local Products (PIPRiL) together with documentation demonstrating the traditional character of the product.
All application forms and information on the required documentation are available on the Polish Chamber of Regional and Local Products' website.
Step 2 – Choose a Certification Body
When submitting the application, the producer must indicate the Certification Body that will be responsible for assessing and verifying the product's compliance with the scheme requirements.
At the same time, the producer should contact the selected Certification Body and declare their intention to join the " Jakość Tradycja " Certification Scheme.
Step 3 – Application Review
After submitting the application, the producer pays the applicable fee to the Polish Chamber of Regional and Local Products. The Chapter responsible for the scheme evaluates the application and, if approved, authorizes the product to undergo certification assessment against the declared product specification.
The certification assessment is carried out by the Certification Body selected by the producer in the application.
Step 4 – Certification
Following a successful conformity assessment, the Chapter awards the " Jakość Tradycja " Certificate, which is valid for three years.
