GLOBALG.A.P. Chain of Custody
Basic information about the GLOBALG.A.P. Chain of Custody Standard
GLOBALG.A.P Chain of Custody (CoC) enables confirmation of product traceability from receipt from the manufacturer all the way to the retailer.
Certification of the CoC is intended for packers, wholesalers, distributors and retailers who trade GLOBALG.A.P. products and want to provide full transparency and trust to their customers.
The standard does not cover food safety, but focuses on product traceability and mass balance compliance.
The standard is based on five key principles:
- controlling the status of GLOBALG.AP of the product being purchased by checking the validity of the manufacturer's certificate or the intermediate supplier's CoC certificate,
- certified products must always be separated from non-certified products,
- products from GLOBALG.A.P. certified production processes. must be clearly labeled,
- full traceability of certified products,
- the company's management system must ensure compliance with CoC requirements.
Certification according to the CoC standard is not granted per product, but per product category.
For the current version of the CoC standard v. 6.1, the following "products" refer to different product scopes and categories:
- (a) CoC for plants
- (i) CoC for plants - fruits and vegetables
- (ii) CoC for plants - flowers and ornamental plants
- (iii) CoC for plants - hops
- (b) CoC for aquaculture
