GLOBALG.A.P.

Basic information about the GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance - PLANTS Standard

GLOBALG.A.P. IFA (Integrated Farm Assurance) covers the entire production chain, from seeding or planting the crop into the ground, through tending, harvesting the crop, and processing the final product (e.g., storage, packaging). One of its main goals is to ensure the health safety of products and minimize the negative impact of agriculture on the environment, by keeping the use of fertilizers and plant protection products to a minimum. It also regulates areas of activity on the farm concerning, among other things, environmental protection and the handling of waste and pollution, the natural environment and biodiversity.

A producer seeking certification has the option of submitting products that are classified into specific groups:

  • Fruits and Vegetables (FV - Fruit and Vegetables)
  • Flowers and Ornamentals (FO - Flowers and Ornamentals)
  • Crops (e.g. Cereals) mechanically harvested (CC - Combinable Crops)
  • Plant Propagation Material (PPM - Plant Propagation Material)

The GLOBALG.A.P. covers the management of requirements for:

  • product traceability;
  • environmental aspects, including history and land management, soil management, and waste management;
  • product, with particular attention to pesticides used, irrigation techniques, crop protection, harvesting methods, and post-harvest treatments;
  • employee health and safety and working conditions;
  • animal health;
  • enterprise management.

Today, the GLOBALG.A.P. IFA standard has become the global standard for good agricultural and production practices. The certificate is international and is recognized both in Poland, Europe and the rest of the world.
