FSSC 22000 version 7

On 1 May 2026, a new version of the FSSC 22000 Certification Scheme – Version 7 (V7) was published. The updated Scheme introduces a number of changes designed to further align the certification system with the evolving needs of the food industry and the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements 2024.

Key changes introduced in FSSC 22000 Version 7:

  • implementation of the new ISO 22002-x:2025 series of standards for Prerequisite Programmes (PRPs),
  • increased emphasis on sustainability and food loss and waste reduction,
  • updated competency requirements for auditors,
  • inclusion of principles for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in certification processes,
  • a more structured classification of food chain categories.

Transition timeline:

  • Audits against Version 6 may be conducted until 30 April 2027 only.
  • Transition audits to Version 7 will take place from 1 May 2027 to 30 April 2028.

FSSC 22000 Version 7 represents another step towards greater consistency, improved efficiency, and stronger support for sustainability throughout the food supply chain.
