Audits of the other side
Second-party audits - supplier audits
The purpose of the audit is to verify that individual suppliers have sufficient infrastructure and technology, personnel qualifications and other resources to produce products that are safe, of reproducible quality, and conform to specified requirements and specifications.
The most important advantage of an audit by an external entity is the ability to objectively look at the activities being carried out, and to determine whether the current documentation and personnel ensure proper execution of tasks. An additional element to which much attention is paid is the compliance of the product with food laws.
Confirmation of the audited suppliers' compliance with the specified requirements by an independent entity will be the basis for their qualification and provide information for further improvement.
Audits of suppliers are also often carried out in response to repeated complaints against supplies from individual suppliers in order to identify the true cause of non-compliance and assess the implementation of activities carried out by the supplier.
Second party audits are conducted on behalf of manufacturing companies and retail chains.
Benefits of certification:
- Verification and evaluation by an independent entity, in a fully objective manner of the audited supplier;
- Ordering the audit process to an external entity saves staff time to perform these tasks;
- A detailed audit report gives a picture of the supplier's production facility and allows to set further directions for cooperation.
